Jaron received his "20 Patch" in July for cubscouts. He was able to finish and earn all 20 of the webelos pins (even though you don't have to get all 20 to earn your webelos badge. Clint and I were really proud of him and his decision to do it (believe it or not, it wasn't our decision). His leaders were so wonderful and worked hard to help him reach his goal. As a reward Jaron got to have lunch with the Mayor of Henderson, Andy Hafen (aka... Bro Hafen... he's in our ward and is Jaron's assistant Blazer leader). Clint and I got to come and Mayor Hafen and his secretary really treated us wonderfully. We had yummy sandwiches and chips and soda and even yummy chocolate chip cookies. Jaron chatted with the Mayor for about an hour and didn't mention video games once. They talked about goals and scouts and family and the city and it was just wonderful!!! Jaron got to take home some little trinkets the mayor gave him (chapstick, flashlight, a notebook, etc with the City's logo on them). Jaron was beaming and so were we. The mayor said how in the city meeting the night before he made a committment to try go to every scouts Eagle Court of Honor in the City and have them to lunch with him and also any cubscout that received the 20 patch would be invited to lunch with him too. Jaron got to be the first! So cool!! It was a real treat!
