Rights as parents!

I know I don't live in California or Arizona, but having lots of family living in both states and actively involved in the proposition 8 issue, I decided to post this video. It's not an lds family, and it's not a hate video by any means, but it says a lot. There is a difference between tolerating someones actions and accepting those actions to be ok. Making same sex marriage legal is wrong and has sad repercussions (sp) for all of us! Let's get involved and get informed. If you want a good, short read about one persons peaceful opinion that I totally agree with just go over to my cousin Wendy's blog (off to the side on my blog, under family... it's Colby and Wendy Weaver) and read about her experiences with her involvement with prop 8. She has such a great testimony and is so good about being involved and being a peaceable person.

There are so many people that don't realize just how much it will affect their lives personally if they chose to legalize same sex marriage. I have heard many people say, "It doesn't affect me, why shouldn't they be allowed to get married?" Thanks for sharing that. It really makes you realize (other than the obvious reasons) why it is important to not allow same sex marriage.

I never thought of the horrible effects that would come from all of this. It's hard to put your nose out there sometimes. I am happy you did. Like they (Pres. Monson?) said in Conference, how we can use our blogs to do good in the world and spread the Gospel... good job!!! I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision.

That makes you stop and think. It's sad the things that our kids have to endure! I know quite a few people who are homosexual, they're good people, but I sure don't want bela trying to grasp that at 5. leave it up to us as parents to teach our kids morals! Great post..I agree with Hopie...good for you Mich!

The entire issue really makes me grateful for the gospel and grateful for a strong family. I think I would always be afraid if I didn't have the family proclamation to guide me. I have complete confidence in my children getting the right teaching at home so that the world will not be teaching my children what is right and wrong. I have high hopes that we will prevail in this fight against legalizing same sex marriage. If we can't do it, then God surely will!

Michelle...thank you for this post. I am beginning to realize just how many people there are (both in and out of the church) who really have no clue when it comes to moral issues. Your dad spoke in our ward this past Sunday and he spoke on the standards by which we are living. It was a great talk and I feel strongly about aligning ourselves with groups/political parties/etc that support the standards and teachings we believe in and are trying to live by. Thanks again for the post.
