Mixed emotions filled the month of January. We lost our home. Not only was it our home, but it was the "family" home that I grew up in since I was 5 yrs old. It was hard to say good bye too. Clint is such a good husband and tells me that it's just wood, and the memories that were made there can be taken with us. Such a wonderful hubby I have. :) So here are some memories I have from there...
1. The playhouse my dad built us in the family room. It was two story!
2. The measuring board in the kitchen that we measured our heights on for so many years... there was even friends on there too.
3. Slumber parties on the addition slab of concrete
4. Flipping backwards out of the swimming pool onto the ground.
5. Family home evenings in the living room
6. Christmas Eve's with Maxi Pad boxes to unwrap (I have such an awesome, embarrassing dad)
7. My brothers drawings of dinosaurs on his bedroom wall
8. Going from sharing a room with 5 of my sisters (in the 3 bedroom house) to sharing a room with 1 sister (in the 5 bedroom house after the addition was finished)
9. Having that house being the hangout spot for lots of friends!
10. Prom night dinner in the dining room, complete with Menus, servers, music, and lots of laughter... and the best company.. Clint, Clay and Amanda Cook (Nielsen)
11. The swing under the gazebo
12. Tanning on the roof
13. Sneaking out and meeting "friends" at the corner
14. The Porch swing in the front yard
15. Staying up way to late with Jessica, Amanda, and Allison in our awesome splatter painted room
16. Getting ready for church dances
17. Slicing my thumb open with a baby bottle jar in the family room
18. The bars my dad built in the backyard where we'd do cherry drops off of. (we were crazy!)
19. The fort my dad built in the backyard out of old crates and pallets. It even had a cool slide made out of an old operating table from the hospital! haha.
20. Being able to say... "the big yellow house on the corner with the white fence"
and many many more memories!!
Carson fell asleep on the kitchen floor while we were packing. So cute!
Well, the time came for us to move out of the big yellow house and into our new rental home. We actually really love our new home. It's beautiful and it's in a culdesac and to Clint's uttermost joy... it has a garage! :) We have met several of our neighbors and everyone seems very nice. It will be different, but we are so grateful for Clint having a job and for the ability we have to rent a home. We have a nice new ward too. Change is fun! :) Here's our new home...
The only criteria the kids had on the new house.... stairs!
It's a great house. 3 bd 3 bath and a backyard with potential! :)

i just have to say as you were listing memories of the mangum house i was thinking to myself oh i remember that...like that splatter paint room, the swing, tanning on the roof, the height wall, yeah i guess we all share a few of those memories but clint is right and change is good. and your decorating in the new house looks so cute. i cant believe you have gotten so much done already. good for you
I am so glad you posted pictures of the new place! It looks so nice! I agree with Janine, good job getting stuff done so quickly. Can't wait till we get to see it in person
I'm gonna miss your old house! What was that game we would play where everyone one would hide except whoever was it, and you'd try to make it back to base without being tagged?
Your new house is beautiful, and because YOU live there, it will be just as fun as the old. Like the other girls, I can't believe how fast you got all your rooms set up. I've been in my house since October and the walls are still bare!
Love you guys!
I can understand the attachment to a house. The new house looks like a lot of fun!!! Are you in the same area????
Change is good and you have such a positive attitude, so it will be great. I will miss the 'Mangum' house too! I will miss reading the newspaper on the walls in the front bathroom. ha ha! I like the new place too! I wonder when we will see it. You have a great sense of style and I want to see more pictures!!!!
I really like the change :) Memories are good, but now you can make new memories in a way stylish house!
Ah, Michelle, I can totally understand your attachment to yuor family's house...I felt the same way about my fmaily's house on National. But your new home llooks amazing! where are you guys at now?
Wow. I too have many memories there! I guess we have to come visit and start creating new memories!
I am sorry about your house but I know this will be a great experience! It is too bad you couldn't move back to Villa Bonita! We miss you!
Okay, you made me cry! It's true we get to take the memories with us. But you forgot some of the best ones, like: the dance routines we made up, in the living room, to Wilson Phillips or that Debarge song. Ahhhh, good times!
Love ya!
I love reading your memories of your house! I also totally loved the pictures of your new house, it looks awesome! Can't wait to see it!
Shelly, that game was Jailor. I think Shannon and Carla Graf made it up but it definitley became the funnest game to play in the house. Anyone remember the "secret passage way" through the closets.Michelle you did the memories so much justice, I love hearing our friends memories too! It was the BEST house to grow up in thanks to mom and dad! What about the water fights with dad and him bringing in the garden hose and mom locking herself in their room. Ha! Ha!
Thanks moo for remembering all the fun times, even though you guys had more than I did. Loved sleeping the the splatter room w/you and jessica on the king size waterbed and jessica talking all night. You should have taken the height board out when you left...oh well, guess we need to start a new one at mom and dad's with the grandkids. It was a fun place to live, sad to see it go but will be better for your family...love you!!!
Ah, the memories. That place will be missed, but that definitely has to do with the people there rather than the actual location. I had a lot of fun there and always felt so accepted. Good luck in your new place. I'm sure you will continue on in the tradition of making fond memories there. Thanks, "gang!" "You're an officer and a gentleman."
Your new rental home is beautiful but I know how hard it has to be to leave your family home behind! So are you still in my stake?
