I hate pumpkin carving...

...But I love it when Clint does it! For family home evening before halloween, we went over to my mom and dad's house. Clint helped my dad for some of the day on their patio. Then that evening we (Clint) carved pumpkins. I always love how they turn out, but I hate carving them... it's tedius and messy, but it does smell good. Emma loved helping out her dad (probably even more than he wanted her too). While Clint finished up pumpkins out back, I made ghost cookies with nutter butters and melted while chocolate. My mom gave me the idea and they were soooo yummy! I wish I would've gotten (is that a word?) more pictures, but oh well. On the Tuesday before we had our trunk or treat (which I always love) with our new ward. It was fun to see friends all dressed up, and some people really went all out with their vehicles (so cool). Our kids loved it. Thursday I got to go spend the entire afternoon at the kids' school taking pictures for the PTO, attending parties, classroom hopping, listening to scary stories the 5th graders wrote, digging into a pumpkin with the 1st graders, and singing "Home Means Nevada" to Emma's class... Now get this (Dave, you'll be floored)... Nobody in Emma's class had ever heard it and even her teacher had never heard it!!! I almost passed out from shock! haha. She told me that I'd have to come back next year and teach her class the song right before Nevada Day (it's on Halloween, for all you non-nevadans.). It was funny. Then Thursday night was our school's Chili Cook Off/Bake Sale/Costume contest (I just stayed at the school through the evening haha). It was really fun... good food, cute kids, yummmmmmy bake sale goodies (thank you Jen Estes!!), and Jaron LOVED the "Mad Science" booth they had set up where they made slime.. yuck. :)

Halloween night was a blast! We went over to Campbell's for chili and rolls and visiting, and then we took our kids trick or treating in their neighborhood with Gregg, Shelly, Mack, Shannon, Jesse, Auri, and Aniston. I love trick or treating there. It's so fun and there are so many kids. They had several "haunted houses" set up (Clint's brother, Kyler, even did one with a friend at his house), and I went through one with Lily (it totally freaked her out), and Clint went through one with the kids. After the 2 we went through, Jaron and Kamron (Clint's youngest brother who is 3 years older than Jaron) took off on their own to trick or treat and check out the other haunted houses. We went to one house where a guy was dressed in jeans, a flannel shirt, and a scary mask, and he was laying in a ditch in his front yard... it looked like a dummy. To make a long story short, Auri (Shannon's 5 year old) walked up to it thinking it was fake and pointe at him, "Look, mom", then he moved and pointed at her.... That's all it took! She FREAKED! She was shaking and crying (we were all laughing) and the guy took off his mask and came over to show her he was just a "dad" himself, and then picked her up and took her back to the candy to let her pick out somemore. It was so funny! Needless to say, her pretty princess make up was history. It also didn't help that as we were walking back up to Campbells, Clint's brother, Kayden, came running out in a freaky mask! Auri and Ani went running down the street to their parents, crying. I love Halloween! Then we went over to my parent's house and visited with all of my family, and checked out everyone's adorable costumes, and the kids divided and seperated their candy (I remember that being sooo fun when I was a kid). It really was a fun Halloween. :)

Carving pumpkins... Emma and Clint

Jaron was a critic for halloween (the 5th graders call it "dictionary day" and have to dress their word). This is him reading the defenition to his word and then he read his scary story he wrote.

This is Jaron's friend, Devin, reading his. Yes, he's a woopee cushion... haha. His word was "annoying"... isn't that perfect. :)
Emma and her two friends eating the yummy halloween party snacks in their classroom!
All the princesses in Ms. Maestas's class! They were soooo cute!
Emma and her friend, Isabella, hangin out in the office after school and playing on the computer. We stayed to decorate the cafeteria for the school party that night. I'm glad Emma has such good friends.
The Mad Science booth at the party (notice Jaron didn't want to wear a costume that night... he's getting so "old". haha)
Costume Contest... part one. Emma was dressed as Belle.
Costume Contest, part 2. Lily was dressed as a bumble bee (without shoes or her hair done. haha). She was so cute up on the stage. Jaron and some friends stood off the stage and told her when to move forward and back to show off her costume. I don't know why, but I thought it was so cute and funny.

Right before headin over to Campbell's for trick or treating! Carson wasn't too happy. haha.

Our little nephew, Mack (Gregg and Shelly's) dressed up as a dragon. He was so cute!!

Adorable Girls!! Aurianna- a southern belle (notice her make up smeared), Min- a flower, Emma- Belle, and Avienda- a flower

Scary Kayden!!!!

Bec- A toadstool, and her little flower (and daughter), Avi!!

Two little bees and a flower!! Halle, Avi, and Lily (making a scary face)
The Hotties!... LtoR: Stephanie, Janine, Me, Bec, Mom, Shelly, and Jeni (in front)... and Talin (Janine's son) wanted to slide right in there... he's so cute!

I want to learn the Nevada song! Your kids look so cute in their costumes. My girls were Belle too. Fun! fun! So I don't know Janine but I have played bunco at her house and she was at a breakfast I was at a couple weeks ago. How do you know her?

Your kids' school is so awesome! It sounds like they really go all out for that day and then again at night!!! Maybe part of it is the fact that it is Nevada day. Either way, it looks like such a fun day! Lilly is such a character!!!

Don't you just love all of the fun Halloween Festivities? We'll have to try trick-or-treating where you did-next year, because the old Pitman neighborhood was a little gloomy this year. :( I think it's amazing that you can do the whole RSP thing and still be in the PTO and attend so many other fuctions! You really are Super-Woman!

So cute! What a pretty little ballerina. Also, how crazy is it that those "mini-Mangums" look so much like their mothers??

What a fun Halloween. At least you got around to carving your pumpkins. Ours are still sitting untouched. ; )
